The BC Milk Marketing Board is pleased to welcome Janice Comeau as the new Chair of the BC Milk Marketing Board, appointed by Order in Council for a term effective July 31, 2021, to July 31, 2023. The Board members and staff are looking forward to working with Janice.
About Janice Comeau, Incoming Chair
Janice is strategic, trusted advisor and corporate director with over 30 years of diverse experience. Since obtaining her CA designation she has held senior leadership roles in a variety of industries including manufacturing, construction, real estate, technology, and mining. She has worked for both private and publicly held companies ranging in size for $3 million to $500 million. Janice delivers financial leadership, accountability, strategic insight, and performance improvement for both entrepreneurial and public firms in growth or change. She has led complex strategic projects and negotiated favorable results for complex business issues including award-winning CFO performance as a financial leader for business transformation. In 2016 she was the recipient of the BC CFO of the year for large private companies and the Corporate Leadership Award for Surrey Women in Business.
Janice completed her ICD.D designation in 2018 and has 17 years of board experience. She is currently on the Board of Sugarbud Craft Growers Corp and the International Women’s Forum. Janice served as Board Chair in the last 3 years of a 9 year term for the BC Land Title and Survey Authority. This award winning leader in land title land title registry and survey plans was recognized internationally for innovation in land title registration, examination and for building a comprehensive land parcel fabric. She was the first independent director of a private geotech and environmental professional services and helped them develop a strategy that resulted in profit improvement and sale of the company. In 2004-2009 she was a director of the Legal Services Society, an organization formed to serve the interests of marginalized citizens to access the justice system when their families, freedom or safety are at risk.
As a volunteer Janice has been involved with Junior Achievement of BC, the YWCA Women of Distinction Nomination Committee and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Seniors tax Clinic.
Family is a big part of her personal life, and she enjoys spending time with her daughter and 2 granddaughters. She grew up in a family of 9 children and loves family gatherings which have grown to over 40 people including nieces and nephews. In her spare time Janice keeps fit and loves to Golf.
Thank You Ben Janzen, Outgoing Chair
The Board would like to thank outgoing Chair Ben Janzen for his significant contributions and dedication to the industry with over 21 years as a board member and most recently as the Chair. Ben has been a champion for the BC dairy industry and has represented the interests of all industry stakeholders throughout his term that ends on July 31, 2021. We wish Ben well and look forward to the opportunity for the industry to celebrate Ben’s time on the board once provincial health restrictions allow for large gatherings.
