The BC FIRB has approved the following changes to the BC Milk Marketing Board’s election rules:

  1. The first change to the rules is to make online voting as the default voting option. The Milk Board has used online voting as an option for many years already and it has worked well, and given the experience over the past year with the COVID-19 pandemic the industry has embraced the use online or web-based technology. There is still an option for mail-in paper ballots to be used in the election and instructions on how to do so will be included in the election notices you will be seeing in the weeks and months to come.  Because there will be no in-person voting or collection of paper ballots at the BCMMB AGM, it is important that all producers use one of the two approved voting methods.
  2. The second change is that the BCMMB will now manage the list of Voting Producers rather than the Independent Elections Officer (IEO). It is more efficient and effective for the Milk Board to manage the list directly through regular communications and farm updates conducted by the Quota department. As a result, this change should allow the Milk Board to achieve a higher percentage of farms to participate in the annual election.

Further to the second change noted above, please find the below Voting Producer form we are requesting all producers to complete and return to the Milk Board.  We will be reaching out to all farms that have no Voting Producer on file to ensure we get maximum participation in this and future years’ elections.  Please note if your farm is a sole proprietorship, this form does not apply as the Voting Producer is automatically the same as the sole proprietor that the Milk Board has on file.

If you have any questions on this form or would like to confirm who your Voting Producer on file is, please contact Lori Sharpe at or Chantale Frost-Gill at or ask for them by phone by calling the office at 604-556-3444.
