Although we will strive to limit any disruption to producers, some milk sample results will be delayed or will not occur over the holiday season. We ask producers for their patience over this period.
All milk that is picked up on December 24th, regardless of region, will not receive test results for this pickup as it will be too old to test the following week. Missing test results will be infilled using the BCMMB infill rules which can be found at the bottom of the following Component & Quality Testing Information Sheet. Loads will still be tested at the plants prior to receiving, but this is not used for payment or milk quality parameters.
Due to the timeliness involved in farm pickup, delivery to an Island processor, and the logistics of milk samples arriving to the lab in Chilliwack, producers on Vancouver Island will have fewer tested samples over the holidays by either 2 or 3 samples, depending on pickup dates.
- Producers picked up on the odd day in December will not receive lab test results for December 23rd, 25th, and 31st.
- Producers picked up on the even day in December will not receive lab test results for December 24th and 30th.
The BCMMB will however, test all Vancouver Island producer samples received between December 21st to January 4th, 2021 for IBC to ensure producers are getting as much information as possible.
