The Western Milk Pool (WMP) met last week to discuss market requirements in the west and the production supply after two months of incentive days. The consistent theme across the WMP has been rising butterfat tests but no significant rise in litres.

In order to meet projected requirements through the winter months, the west requires further adjustments to its incentive days. The BC Milk Marketing Board has now added 2 incentive days for the month of January 2021. The issued incentive days are updated as follows:

  • December 3 days
  • January 2 days (new)

The incentive days are issued on a fixed basis, the days for a month (ie. December) can only be used in that month (ie. December) and not carried forward. This is different from the previous flexible days program.

Please review the Board’s notices as soon as they are issued as the Board will continue to update producers as required to manage production. Production measures may be issued or retracted at any time to ensure we are meeting market requirements.
