The BC Milk Marketing will apply a two-day per month credit use restriction effective March 1, 2022. This policy was applied across the Western Milk Pool (WMP) on December 1, 2021 and was suspended in British Columbia due to the November 2021 floods.

The current market situation indicates that the WMP processor orders are still below current production levels, and it is forecasted that significant skimming will continue in the WMP through February and possibly March. In order to avoid unnecessary milk disposal, the WMP has committed to reducing production until further notice.

The WMP will continue to closely monitor the milk supply and demand situation and will respond as required based on the market signals.

The production restrictions will result in no payment on quota produced over 2-credit days and any production over 2- credit days will be applied as deemed and will not be available for future production.

The Board would also like to remind producers that effective February 1, 2022, a financial over quota charge will be applied on any quota produced over 5 days production. Please see the reminder notice that was send out on January 4, 2022, Notice to Producers – Over Quota Production – Policy Reminder

Please note: This restriction does not apply to specialty (organic) producers and Board recognized grass-fed milk producers
