Safety Reminder: Inspect Milk House Equipment and Conditions
We would like to highlight an important safety risk for Bulk Tank Milk Graders (BTMGs) and anyone working in or around the milk house.
To help prevent incidents and maintain a safe working environment, we are asking all producers to conduct a thorough inspection of their milk house and related equipment, paying particular attention to:
- Tank ladders and ladder mounting hardware
- Ladder hinges, springs, locking mechanisms, and supports
- Signs of wear, corrosion, damage, or loose components
- Tripping hazards in and around the milk house
- Floor conditions, lighting, and general housekeeping
As we move into the fall and winter season, now is an ideal time to review the condition of equipment and complete any necessary maintenance or repairs before they become a safety concern.
Promptly addressing identified issues helps protect everyone who works in and around the milk house and supports safe, efficient milk collection throughout the year.
Please complete these inspections as soon as possible and address any concerns identified during the review.
